Giglia “Yily” Pages was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1958. Yily has always known she was destined to be an artist, and at the age of 17, it was this goal that motivated her to travel to Madrid to study painting at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Moncloa. She later traveled to Italy, where she furthered her studies at
the Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome.
Yily is no stranger to moving, as she has done so frequently throughout her life, having lived in various cities and countries. Although it was not easy to always be on the way to somewhere else, she believes that experiencing different places and their cultures have made her more open to new ideas and perspectives, and consequently broadened her artistic vision and enriched her work.

She is inspired by the esoteric and the metaphysical, and both these elements are major influences that are either hidden or evidently exposed in her body of work.
The three series, exhibited in this website, represent the various periods of her work since her arrival to the United States in 1996. All her series show a fluency in imagination, originality and her own personal signature style.
She currently resides in Loveland, Ohio where she has her own studio where she works and teaches painting to aspiring artists.
